Those 4 days are a normal day of winter in western Pennsylvania. I get it was Texas. Not used to it. But, if your 16 in PA, you know how to drive in that weather.

I survived Hurricane Maria. I have ptsd from it

one of my brother’s best friends worked in and was one of the casualties in the amazon warehouse in edwardsville, where he also worked. he didn’t work that day because it was my birthday and i’m so thankful for that.

During that i was 9 years old and used to watch tornado chasers I was obsessed with it. I learned so much from watching that it was crazy. That day I was getting picks up from my baby sitters and I said man it feels like a tornado could happen today. Few hours later the memorial day tornado was formed.

My college was located just beyond a flood plane of a nearby river, I remember having classes in the morning and by the time I returned from my mid morning break the river had already flooded into parts of the parking lot and classes were canceled for the rest of the week. I also remember seeing the aftermath of the toll it took on Emerald Isle first hand once the bridges opened back up. I have a friend with a house on the sound down there and went with him to look at the damage. Luckily the main house wasn’t damaged but his dock was completely destroyed as well as the deck coming off the back of the house. The flood waters actually reached the back door but because of the amount of debris in the water it created a seal and only a minor amount of water actually made it into the house. Definitely a storm for the books and I appreciate you showing the redheaded stepchild of the hurricane prone states some attention.

Something about this whole series of events is so deeply unsettling and I can't fully describe why.

The Blizzard of 1993, we got 15 inches of snow in East TN, in Chattanooga at the Georgia border.

The problem in Puerto Rico is the corruption. Government and government officials have been doing this for years. It is no one land.

I was working down in Texas at the time the weather hit and I'm still so angry at how incompetently handled literally everything was. Without going into too many personal details, I worked an essential job that NEEDED to be active during the winter storm, but we also weren't prepared for winter weather or for rolling blackouts. There were just literally DAYS where I'd show up for work just to sit huddled in a blanket in a pitch black room with everyone else while the IT crew scrambled to find a way to get our generator to work.And we were lucky nobody we knew personally died and that we were able to stay warm enough in the first place.

This might sound silly and stupid given I’m this far into season two but how does a wave turn into a tropical storm and / or eventual hurricane

I still remember the days following the storm, gas was $1.30 and everyone was so genuinely helpful, it was like a fever dream. I lived literally right across the TAFB bridge in a little community off Oak Bay Dr. I only survived because of the house having a laundry room built out of pure concrete, the rest of the house was completely destroyed

I remember this day. I was 14. My family was asleep but I was the designated "night watch" for when we had bad weather, as I'd be up anyway. I remember listening to it storm, hearing the wind, and then McCall Vrydaghs get emotional. Thats when I finally woke them up. Just in time, too. It didn't hit us directly but we could hear it. It was horrifying, being alone at night, listening to the wind, hoping I wouldn't need to do anything. I'm still "night watch". I'm glad you covered it, I only saw one other person do so, and for awhile it was always heartbreaking to look it up and see only we cared about happened to us.

Irma didn't make landfall on Puerto Rico... But she passed so close and we were left without power for over a week. Than about 2 weeks later, Maria made landfall. It was back to back. 7years later we still haven't received.

There was another storm that did that crazy left hook. The Perfect storm i.e. the Halloween storm of 1991.

I still can’t lose power without panicking, my family was without power for over a week and we run on well water so we had no water either. The cold made our pipes burst all throughout the house, I lived in a hotel for months because my entire home had to be destroyed

I wasn't there to witness Haiyan unleash horror in my country, but today I look back at this time with extreme sorrow for everyone that had to endure this disaster. I watched your entire documentary from start to finish and it made me realize how greatly it affected the Philippines forever.. This is some great insight into Haiyan and I'm happy you made this video, excellent work :]

Developers chomp at the bit during these Hurricanes. It's unstat.

My grandpa used to live in New Orleans and had already moved out by the time this storm happened. The house that my grandparents used to own, (now owned by my aunt and uncle) has a memorial in the backyard that says: *Katrina House of Hope 2006* All the funds from the purchase of that house went to recovery efforts. I have never looked at that house the same.

Just went back to Rolling Fork after not visiting for over 12 years. My Grandparents , long dead, lived there and I had many enjoyable memories there. I drove up to where their house had been. I had seen pics but it didn’t prepare me for the emotionals I felt. The house ,garage and shop were gone. Only the slabs were left. This was the exact pic I had seen. Nothing was left. I guess in my mind I blocked out how bad it truly was. I drove on to the middle of town. So much damage. Nothing was as I remembered. So much devastation even after almost 600 days. Crossed Deer Creek and no damage. Drove on and crossed back over the creek where the Red Barn used to be at the siloes. My heart is still so raw. I have prayed for all the residents and the town itself. May God take care of all.💔

I got to see the damage for the west point tornado you can still see where it cut thru the country side destroyed a few farm house they are still rebuilding

We lost power for the full week- I think the first day we had the rolling blackouts but the moments we had power got fewer between until the power just… stopped coming back on. It was 10f and below in hour house. My aunt lost both water and power. My grandma who live in a slightly nicer area- never lost power or water so we all had to go spend the whole week with her. I was in uni at this time and i remember when the roads iced my professors emailed all of us that classes would be online via zoom instead and in the student gcs we were all happy. Then all the power went out and the professors emailed again- no class at all until everything goes back to normal. Thankfully I have unlimited data so I was able to get all these updates but the student gcs we had quickly went completely silent, no more jokes etc.

I was in this storm, and turned 7 during it! I was in the eye, and a part of my upstairs neighbor's balcony collapsed.
